Urinary System – Course Content Description

The Urinary System module explores the organs and processes responsible for removing waste products from the blood, maintaining fluid balance, and regulating electrolytes. Learners will understand how the urinary system functions and its relevance to overall health and massage therapy.

This section covers:

  • Major organs: kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra

  • Filtration, reabsorption, and excretion processes

  • Regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance

  • Common urinary conditions and pathologies

  • Effects of massage on the urinary system, including relaxation and support for detoxification processes

Students will consolidate learning through textbooks, diagrams, worksheets, and self- assessment exercises. A solid understanding of the urinary system is important for safe, effective massage practice and for recognising when adaptations may be needed for clients’ health.
